Lone Star State of Mind

Another week of camp and another preseason game in the books.

Practice

This week we returned another running back from injury, so I saw my reps in practice decrease again. In fact, I didn’t get a single play on offense the entire week. On one hand, I know this is just the way things are and I need to accept them, but it’s still frustrating on two levels. First, in order to make the team I need to prove myself a worthy asset, but it’s hard to prove anything when you don’t get a shot. Second, by essentially not practicing, I’m not getting any practice. Sounds obvious, but it’s difficult to stay sharp with technique, timing, footwork, and reading the plays when you have to do so from the sideline.

That being said, I still think I’m prepared to go into the game at any time.

Dallas

I’ve come to love traveling, so I was definitely looking forward to being somewhere other than the Holiday Inn in San Diego for a few days. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in transit when I was able to just chill and listen to music/podcasts.

We got to practice in Cowboy’s Stadium a couple times and that was pretty sweet. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve really been impressed by a venue. The jumbo tron was outrageously large (I knew that before, but it was much more impressive in person), and everything else in the stadium was new and state-of-the-art. I won’t go into details, but I’ll just say it was a cool experience.

The 175-foot video screen is the 4th largest in the world.

The Game

The game was very similar to the week of practice for me. I didn’t get in on offense, but I did get a few plays on special teams. I think I did fairly well on those, so I’m satisfied. Next week’s game against Arizona will likely be more of the same. Typically teams play their starters for the majority of the 3rd preseason game, then rest them for the 4th, so I’ll probably have to wait until September 1st to get my next carry.

.

All you can do is make the most of what you’re given, so that’s what I plan to do instead of worrying that I’m not higher on the offensive depth chart.

  1. Keep your head up bro! I can only wish you the best and keep working hard! I hope you make the team and even though they are not giving you the reps you want, you gotta make the best out of the reps you get. I saw you last night flying down the field on special teams. I was just hoping for the returner to get in the right angle for you to lay him out!

One of the many fans from New Jersey, good luck
