Pomp and circumstance

It’s been a while.

The past few weeks have been full of schoolwork, the usual training for football, and preparing for graduation. This preparation included, among other things, writing the commencement speech, which I gave on Saturday to 10,000 screaming fans. Ok they were students and parents sitting quietly, but I’m sure they wanted to scream. I was pretty nervous sitting on stage before the speech, but once I got to the podium I was on autopilot. I barely remember being up there actually haha. But people seemed to enjoy it, so I’m glad I was able to end my career at UMD on a high note.

And now… I’m a college graduate. I don’t feel any different, but that could be for a number of reasons: could be that I know I’ll be going to grad school at some point, or that I’m not starting a real job, or that I haven’t moved away yet, or maybe it just hasn’t set in. Whatever the case, summer is here and I plan to make the most of it. My goals/plans for the summer:

  • Get in the best shape of my life
  • Spend as much time as possible at the beach
  • Spend as little money as possible
  • Savor every moment of my last weeks in Duluth

After Day 1, I’m off to a great start. I had a good hard workout, ate leftovers, and used a gift card to buy a beach volleyball that I plan to get lots of use out of. Long live summer.

Still no movement on the NFL lockout. I hate the waiting.
